“Just call me Richard the Ringer,” smiled Richard K, a wheelchair-bound but very independent Resident in Philadelphia’s Holy Family Apartments. When Mother Celine Thérèse asked Richard to ring the altar bells in place of our recently deceased Mary Frances, AJJ, he responded with holy enthusiasm.
He now dons a dress shirt and tie each morning to look the part while fulfilling this sacred duty. Richard confided to Mother Celine that he deeply appreciates being asked to serve. This meaningful role has given him a real motivation to prepare for and participate in Mass each day with attention and devotion. He truly regards it as his new mission.
