“Making the Residents happy—that’s what counts!” is a saying of St. Jeanne Jugan that sums up her spirit. She felt called to contribute to the well-being of the Elderly on all levels.
On March 1, our Jeanne Jugan Associates devised yet another way to continue this spirit of holistic caring that was bequeathed to the daughters of Jeanne Jugan—they threw a party!
Yes, a Victory Party to revel in the recent Super bowl win of the Eagles would sustain their healthy enthusiasm for sports. Combined with the Victory Party was a Mardi Gras celebration to promote the spiritual benefit of preparing for Lent. So the Associates sent out invitations to all Residents, supplied decorations and treats, prepared grab bags and prizes, and called in a couple of familiar String Band performers to enliven the doubly entertaining/beneficial event. Of course, they also assisted the Little Sisters in gathering the Residents from all areas and actively participated in the animation.
It worked! Happy faces on the Residents attested to the spirit of St Jeanne Jugan alive and well at Holy Family Home!
