“O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today . . .” the full assembly sang as our recently arrived Apartment Resident, Gloria Richey placed the floral wreath on the statue of our Blessed Mother on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
It was truly an intergenerational ceremony honoring the Mother of us all: Elders of Holy Family Home, Youngsters from St. Francis de Sales School, and “In-Betweeners” from family members, IHM’s, LSPs, Jeanne Jugan Associates, and Friends. Our chapel was filled to capacity with Marian devotees happy to participate in our annual May Procession.
What was new this year was the presence of First Holy Communicants from our parish, St. Francis de Sales. What was providential this year was that our May Queen, Gloria, happened to know the Crown Bearer, Genevieve, and her parents, who were also present, from their nearby parish, St. Cyprian’s.
After the Crowning, they enjoyed a little snack together in the Apartment Dining Room. On this lovely day in May, Jeanne Jugan’s extended family rejoiced to come together to honor Mary, the Mother of us all!
