Reaping Fruits from our Forerunners

What brought the “Catholic Women of Bucks Giving Circle” to invite the Little Sisters of Holy Family Home to present their current needs to them? It was the witness of the Little Sisters collecting in the area over the years.

These philanthropists are familiar with the work of St. Jeanne Jugan in Philadelphia because of contacts with our Begging Sisters, especially in their parishes. And so, at their meeting on February 6, they introduced the Little Sisters of the Poor as their featured charity. “These are Religious Sisters who welcome and care for the needy elderly in their facility. They rely on the generosity of others to support their mission.” Sr. Veronica and Sr. Maria Catherine spoke to them about how we try to assure that no one in our Homes dies alone, how we keep vigil at the bedside of the dying until they go home to our Lord.

How truly blessed we are to realize God’s Loving Presence at such times! Currently we need a new patient lift to help move incapacitated Residents from bed to chair. The cost is $4,000. These kind ladies offered, on the spot, to reach out for help to pay for the lift!

We thanked our Great God for the Catholic Women of Bucks Giving Circle and for the witness of all the Little Sisters who have gone before us to pave the way for continuing the work of St. Jeanne Jugan in Philadelphia!
