Reflecting on the Faces of Our 2026 Gala

Our Annual Jeanne Jugan Gala is far more than a fundraiser. It is a joyful tradition—a time to gather around a festive dinner with our extended family to recognize the remarkable individuals and organizations who breathe life into Holy Family Home. This year’s celebration, held a unique significance. We had the privilege of honoring the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for over 150 years of unwavering friendship and faithful support following the initiative of Archbishop James Wood who invited the little Sisters of the Poor in 1890. The gathering came alive remembering the generations who carried Saint Jeanne Jugan’s mission forward. Representing their forerunners were:

  • Auxiliary Bishop Rev. Christopher R. Cooke
  • Archdiocesan priests who graciously welcome the Little Sisters into their parishes for regular Church collections
  • Religious men and women who champion parish service projects and coordinate community outreach, many of whom have also entrusted their own family members to the care of Holy Family Home
  • The Knights of Columbus, our faithful supporters over the years
  • Young adult missionaries from FOCUS and Christ in the City
  • Dedicated employees, both past and present
  • Generous benefactors and long-time volunteers
  • Devoted family members of our Residents and the Little Sisters
  • A delegation of uniformed students from Archbishop Wood High School, with one student delivering a moving address to the crowd.

As she expressed our gratitude, Mother Celine Thérèse spoke straight from the heart. Having previously known Archbishop Pérez during their mutual time serving in New York, she shared warm reflections on his long-standing kindness. She expressed appreciation not only for his current leadership but for the consistent, faithful support she has personally experienced from him across dioceses. Mother Celine also extended her heartfelt thanks to the many local friends and benefactors she has grown to know and cherish throughout her past five years in Philadelphia.

Sister Veronica, our Begging Sister, captured the spirit of the night perfectly when she reminded everyone who the real VIPs were. The most special guests in the room were the Residents from our Apartments and Care Unit. They are the very heartbeat of our home and the reason we gather. Our Residents represent every individual who, over the last century and a half, has called Holy Family Home their own—allowing the love and charism of Saint Jeanne Jugan to shine brightly across the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
