“Blessings and Snacks” – Grand Opening
Eastertide 2025 brought another piece of new life to Holy Family Home with the Grand Opening of our new Gift Shop, “Blessings and Snacks.” On Monday, April 21, 2025, in the presence of Residents, Little Sisters, Jeanne Jugan Associates, staff, and volunteers, Father Michael Oliveri blessed the room near the front entrance which had just been transformed into a space for blessings and snacks.
When asked what she would like to say on this occasion, Sr. Elizabeth Teresa of Jesus spontaneously came out with the shop’s mission statement:
“The name ‘Blessings and Snacks’ tells it all,” she said. The Blessings are those of a mutual enterprise to make the Residents happy, in the spirit of Jeanne Jugan. Here, we will practice hospitality; we will strive to honor the Residents’ choices, contribute to their well-being, respect their dignity. We will serve them with kindness and let them feel loved.”
Sr. Elizabeth Teresa is joined in this mission by a Jeanne Jugan Associate, Pat Boyle; an Apartment Resident, Barbara Sperandeo; and a volunteer, Ralph Hall. They have all donated much time, talent, and treasure in the preparation of this mutual endeavor. Pat bought the card racks and supplied much of the merchandise. Barb has put in a lot of time setting up shop. Ralph has already made one of his many trips to Jetro’s wholesale warehouse for bargains on favorite snacks. The team themselves have already tasted of the blessings and snacks.”
