Here in Philly, we are still transitioning into our renovated building but victory is in the air, celebrating the successful transformation of this old Home at the same time as the successful Superbowl of our home team: Fly, Eagles, Fly! Even the carillons of Philly’s churches chimed out the Eagle’s Song! On the day of the playoffs, our Chaplain, Father James Sullivan smiled as he noticed that Staff and Residents were all wearing green for the Eagles. He seemed pleased to inform us before Mass that it was a Sunday in Ordinary Time, so every priest celebrating Mass in every parish throughout the USA was wearing green, even in Kansas City, the hometown of the Chiefs, the opposing team.
You might say the spirit of Jeanne Jugan is rubbing off on our Construction Workers. Ed Rowe, the INTECH Project Manager who is now overseeing the last phase of our Building Project, went with Apartment Resident, Paul Buzas, to a great basketball game at Villanova. They were rooting for opposite teams: Paul, for St John’s where his friend is the coach, and Ed, for his Alma Mater, Villanova. With the score so close until the very end, the cheering at Villanova’s victory was all the more exciting. No matter who won, the comradery was uplifting for both.
