Renewal of Vows
Firmly “forever” despite the “temporary” setting—that’s how we might describe the renewal of our vows this December 8, in our little temporary Chapel. Happily, it was over-crowded. Not only did we have our Residents present in good number, but also a few employees, and a couple of ladies from the neighborhood, who have become regular attendees at Mass. They were a good representation of the People of God, giving a properly ecclesial setting to the renewal of our consecration, forever, to God, in the Congregation, for the Church and the world.
In his homily, our Chaplain, Father James Sullivan, asserted:
“On this particular day, the Little Sisters of the Poor are receiving their new Constitutions, a gift for guidance as to who they are, whom they serve, and why.” “Sisters,” he continued, “I invite you to see your Rule of Life not as something written on paper, but written in your hearts, your Marian hearts, beating to ‘Ecce, Fiat, Magnificat,’ just like Mary’s. May your Constitutions guide you to be present to Jesus, to give all to Jesus, and to proclaim Jesus by your witness to His Love.”
