Season of Creation 2025

Holy Family Home is no longer under construction constraints! Blessed be God! We can finally, after five years of precautions, go out and enjoy our newly landscaped surroundings.

This year’s “Season of Creation” is especially meaningful as once again we join the annual ecumenical celebration of prayer and action to appreciate and protect our common home initiated by Pope Francis and the World Council of Churches in 2015.

In this Jubilee of Hope, we are planting seeds of hope by engaging our Residents in walks in the yard, by encouraging them to look out for each other, by suggesting that they invite their fellow Residents and visitors to go out and be touched by Nature. Here’s our theme song (to the tune of Deck the Halls):

     Check our garden’s captivation, (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)

‘Tis the season of Creation. (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)
Don we now our walking footwear. (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)
Off we go! Enjoy the fresh air! (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)

Fast the old constraint now passes, (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)
     Safety guidelines, Covid crashes!
(Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)
     Walk alone or all together,
(Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)
Heedless of the wind and weather
(Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)

Follow us in merry measure (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)
     While we claim creation’s treasure.
(Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)
     Join our grateful admiration
(Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)

     Of our God’s immense Creation. (Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la)

Here is what our Residents have to say:

Marie T: “Being out in our yard makes my heart happy. The landscape is so enjoyable; it lifts my heart to God, especially when I stop in Calvary Garden. Here, I am moved to appreciate our Lord and all He has done for us.”

Edd B says our yard is our “outdoor cathedral.”

Gloria R: “I love the atmosphere in our yard. The security is reassuring. I like to sit on the swing when I’m finished my walk.”

Agnes P: “Our property is beautiful. I wish I could participate in keeping it up. I would love to care for trees that attract birds and tend to flowers that boost spirits with their beauty. For me, that was always the joy of gardening.”

Isabel A: “I always feel better when I go for a walk in the yard. Admiring the plants, feeling the breeze, with gratitude, invigorates me.”

Pat S: “We have such beautiful surroundings! I love to enjoy them with my family.”

Barbara E: “I love our garden. It’s peaceful and prayerful.”

Joey K thinks the outdoor religious statues make our grounds “naturally and spiritually beautiful.”
