Keeping the Spirit of Hospitality Alive

By June 9, 2025No Comments

Grace is a student at West Chester University where she is also active at the Newman Center. Having fond memories of belonging to Holy Family Home’s Hospitality Club when she was a young girl, she suggested to a few classmates that they pay a visit to our Residents.

They arrived with flowers while many of the Residents were outside enjoying a beautiful day on the patio. It was touching to see each of the students spontaneously kneel down next to a Resident to engage with them in conversation! After a lovely visit, it was time for Eucharistic Adoration and Evening Prayer. The students offered to escort those Residents who wished, to the chapel. There, they prayed together, young and old alike.

Grace had experienced the joy of hospitality in her youth. She was able to share it years later with her university peers. This afternoon was a perfect snapshot of Jeanne Jugan’s holistic care for the elderly being carried forward by successive generations!
