Residents’ Day on St. Jeanne Jugan’s Birthday

Sister Elisabeth J-B gives a “thumbs-up” to Residents’ Day on St. Jeanne Jugan’s Birthday
Philly found St. Jeanne Jugan’s Birthday, October 25, 2021, was a perfect day to celebrate Residents’ Day. Auxiliary Bishop John McIntyre kindly accepted to preside the Liturgy for the occasion. In his homily he reminded us that each time we encounter the saints, they do two things: they show us Jesus in their own unique way and they urge us on by their real-life example. Marking St. Jeanne Jugan’s birthday this way made us more grateful for the precious gift God gave to the Church through her.

With that liturgical note as backdrop, we went on to actualize St. Jeanne Jugan’s maxim: “Making the Residents happy that’s what counts!” Our familiar one-man-band-Joe and a newcomer Magician, Nick, animated our afternoon birthday party. They “got everyone up” with active participation in the singing, dancing and tricks. For the very first time since the Corona Virus Crisis changed our whole world, we were really together in the social hall! This made Residents’ Day 2021 all the more delightful!
