All-Hallow’s Eve is an all-around favorite at Holy Family Home! Why?
- It’s almost (by just a few days) Kathy Kagel’s Birthday and her innate enthusiasm for Halloween is contagious. Our super-Nurse, Kathy, has bewitched us with her kindness for over fifty years, so we happily join in her Fall fun each year.
- Kathy’s co-worker, Nurse Jeanine, likewise has Halloween-mania. So do many of her extended family of Residents and Staff at Holy Family Home.
- Halloween brings back memories of masquerading in homemade costumes when we were kids and, later, dressing up children and grandchildren for trick-or-treating.
- Expecting with pleasure to commemorate all the Unsung Saints the next day, “All Saints Day,” and to remember all who have gone before us on November 2nd, “All Souls Day,” we really feel part of the “Communion of Saints” as Halloween ushers in the “Days of the Dead.”
This year, Halloween masks were a comfy trade-off for medical masks! Again, the Board of St. Francis deserves a shout out for their consistent kindness in sending seasonal gifts. Trick-or-treaters enjoyed the goodie-bags from these faithful friends well after the party. Also, we were delighted to welcome back our familiar one-man-band-Joe, whom we hadn’t seen for a while. The Residents loved the way Joe remembered their favorite tunes. He performed with such a lively, personal touch, calling them by name, and setting to music their memories of days gone by.
It was a Happy Halloween 2023!
