Artistic Achievement Unlocked!
October, the month of the Rosary, closed with the completion of a beautiful project. Our Residents, led by the gifted Carolina Cancion from Colombia, turned an old piece of furniture into a table of expression. This furniture facelift was made possible because Carolina had been awarded a grant to share “Mosaic Art Mending Spirits” with a non-profit. Of all the possible venues open to her, she chose Holy Family Home. Carolina says: “I’m an artist not by profession, but by preference. I’m also a steadfast student of the Elderly.” She was able to come with different volunteer companions, to share her talent and to learn from her seniors, every Monday at 3:30 for 5 weeks.
Their final mosaic masterpiece was Our Lady’s Rosary mounted on an old table. The Residents also had fun sanding and varnishing the table. As you scroll through the photos, you’ll see more than just refurbished furniture; you’ll see the embodiment of communal harmony at Holy Family Home—or, as St. Jeanne Jugan would put it, our “Family Spirit.”
