“Making the Elderly happy, that’s what counts!” is a maxim inherited from our Foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan and incorporated into the present-day mission statement of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Our dietary staff is a vital part of carrying out this mission.
As dietary supervisor, Laurie, puts it: “We aim to please!”
“Let’s go back to our pre-pandemic custom of cooking breakfast to order!” suggested Mother Celine.
And so it happened… Beginning in July 2023, our Residents savored their first, most important meal of the day, adapted to their individual tastes. They were happy, as were those who cooked to accommodate each Resident’s taste, those who served the meal, and those who helped Residents who needed assistance with taking nourishment. Little Sisters participating this breakfast treat recognized in this action the coming alive of Jeanne Jugan’s advice to the novices she lived among: “Making the elderly happy, that’s everything!”
