Ali came to experience living in the convent for two months and sharing the spiritual, community, and apostolic life of the Little Sisters of the Poor. The Residents and staff of Holy Family Home joined the sisters in making Ali feel part of our extended family. It turned out to be an amazing learning experience, not only for Ali, but for us all!

The Residents of St. Joseph’s Care Unit nicknamed her “Sunshine”. An elderly Little Sister loved the exposure to a youthful perspective. A Little Sister who taught Ali how to play Mahjong felt buoyed up by her enthusiasm for community recreation. Apartment Resident Theresa was grateful for Ali’s practical tips and her helping hand in unpacking boxes. Activities’ Director, Stephanie appreciated Ali’s contributions during Scripture Sharing. A staff nurse observed that Ali was right on the job for hands-on care of the elderly. Mother Celine appreciated her being present with punctuality at the dedicated times of liturgical prayer and silent reflection. The begging sister was happy to have Ali accompany her to the market and to a church collection to see first-hand the goodness of our benefactors.
Indeed, Ali’s spiritual internship with us was an opportunity to be part of the promotion of vocations and, at the same time, to grow in gratitude for the gift of Consecrated Life in the Church.
