The Little Sisters of the Poor place their homes under St. Joseph’s protection, trusting in God to provide for their needs through the intercession of St. Joseph.
Holy Family Home celebrated the feast of St. Joseph with a 10:30 a.m. Mass, with Bishop Timothy Senior as main celebrant. Nine other priests concelebrated, including Fr. Douglas McKay, chaplain of Holy Family Home.
In his homily, Bishop Senior focused on the theme of humility:
- the humility of St. Joseph, about whom not much is written, and who accomplished his great work in silence;
- the humility of our new holy Father, Pope Francis, who was installed as Shepherd of the Church that morning, who is a champion for the poor;
- and our need to embrace our crosses with humility.
Bishop Senior greeted the Residents and Sisters outside the Chapel after Mass, and then joined the other priests for
a special feast day lunch.
