The holiday season was a happy, festive one here at Holy Family Home. The Residents, Sisters and staff enjoyed all the decorating, gift giving and delicious meals that came with the celebrations.
On December 8, Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Little Sisters of the Poor renewed their vows. We are fortunate to have 12 Little Sisters at Holy Family Home, caring for our dear Residents. (Click images to see full size image)
Later that week, we had a visit from members of the Auxiliary Board of Saint Francis of Holy Family Home. They had a tour of the Home, attended Mass, and visited with our Residents. We are looking forward to having future visits and events with them!
Students and their fathers from the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart came and played bingo with the Residents and brought special prizes for them.
Holy Family Home’s Hospitality Club of young students presented a moving play on Our Lady of Guadalupe. After the play, they distributed roses to the Residents.
Our Residents were delighted to welcome Bishop Senior and the seminarians from St. Charles Seminary when they came to put on their annual Christmas show. The auditorium was packed as they entertained us with their beautiful rendition of Christmas songs, including some Spanish and Italian tunes. One of our Residents happily crooned along in her native Italian tongue. Our Sisters and Residents continue to pray for the seminarians and for more vocations to the priesthood and the religious life!
Musicians from the St. Francis de Sales School visited Holy Family Home for the first time and played holiday tunes on their instruments. The Residents were so impressed by their musical talents.
The Residents’ Christmas party was a happy, festive event. They excitedly received their Christmas gifts, many of them given to us through various parish giving trees and school collections.
Finally, Christmas Eve was here and the Sisters and Residents filed into the Chapel for Christmas Eve Mass and welcomed the Child Jesus, who was carried in by one of our Residents. The Chapel was beautifully decorated with poinsettias, which were all donated through the generosity of various greenhouses and our friends from the market.
A week later we were saying goodbye to 2015 and welcoming in the New Year, 2016!
