Christmas is truly the season of giving – the giving of Christ who was born to live among us, and the generous giving of time, talent, and treasure from all of you, our beloved benefactors!
Various groups came to entertain our Residents, singing Christmas songs and caroling in the hallways. 60 seminarians from St. Charles Seminary came and put on a Christmas show; they also donated the proceeds from their Christmas concert at the Seminary to Holy Family Home. Our Hospitality Club members participated in our Live Nativity and they also put on a Christmas play for our Residents.
We received generous donations of poinsettias from various nurseries and vendors, which brightly decorated our chapel. Many gifts poured in for the Residents and Sisters from a number of parishes, schools, businesses and individuals. These gifts were presented to our Residents at their Christmas party.
At our staff Christmas Party we took time to thank everyone and to recognize milestone anniversaries: Kathy Kagel, our Director of Nursing, led the pack with her 40 years of service, followed by 10 others with 10 or more years of service. We are most grateful for the help and loving care all our employees provide to our Residents.
The holiday season finished up with a New Year’s Eve party, with entertainment, delicious food, and a countdown to the new year (at 6:00 p.m.!).
Of course, most importantly, we had beautiful Christmas and New Year Day Masses, during which we remembered you and your intentions in our prayers.
We are grateful to everyone for making Christmas such a blessed time for our Residents. We also thank you all for your overwhelming responses to our Christmas and Winner a Day mailings! We greatly appreciate your joining us in our work of caring for the elderly poor in such generous ways!
We wish you a joyous, healthy, and peace-filled new year!
